GENERAL INFORMATION FOR 2010 AMRC "Stone Mountain" HAMFEST:

IT IS THE LARGEST HAMFEST IN GEORGIA!   FREE PARKING!   INDOOR FLEA MARKET!

The Stone Mountain Hamfest is sponsored by the Alford Memorial Radio Club and is the largest Hamfest in all of Georgia. It is held at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds, 2405 Sugarloaf Parkway Lawrenceville, GA 30045
GPS Location:   N 33 55.255'   W 083 59.224'

General Admission Gate Hours are 8:00-4:00 on Saturday, Nov. 6, and 8:00-2:00 Sunday Nov. 7.
At the Gate, a general admission ticket is $8.00 and is good for both days.
If you buy a general admission ticket before the Hamfest, the price is $6.00 per ticket. The tickets will be available for "PRE-SALES" until 4:00pm, Friday, November 5, 2009 through the online store and from our club members.
Student admission (with ID) is $6.
Children 16 and under are FREE.
Tailgating in the Bone-Yard is $8.00 per space for both days. - plus a general admission ticket is needed for each person in the boneyard.
General Admission Parking is FREE.

Talk in is on the Stone Mountain Repeater, 146.76, PL 107.2. Alternate frequencies are 145.45 no PL and 444.25, PL 131.8.
Announcements during the Hamfest will be made on our low power FM station at 100.9FM.

PRE-SALES TICKETS PURCHASED ON-LINE WILL NOT BE MAILED TO YOU!

All PRE-SALES Tickets can be picked up at the "Will Call" window or at the Vendor's Gate on the days of the Hamfest.

This is a traditional hamfest, with lots of commercial vendors, flea market vendors, and a gigantic tailgate "boneyard" area, the largest in all of Georgia. There will be breakfast biscuits and coffee in the mornings, and several lunch items available from our food vendor.

Hamfest Directions

From I - 285:   Take either Stone Mountain freeway(Hwy 78) East toward Athens or take I - 85 North towards Greenville. Then follow other instructions.

From Hwy 78: either Eastbound (having come off Stone Mountain freeway into the stop light section) or West bound from Athens: Come into the center of Snellville and turn North (left if you came from Stone Mountain, right if you came from Athens) on Scenic Highway, GA 124. Go North 4.2 miles to Sugarloaf Parkway. Turn right onto Sugarloaf Parkway, diagonally across from McDonalds. The General Admission gate will have a double turn lane to the left, and the Exhibitor/Vendor/Tailgate entrance is next, with a single turn lane.

From I - 85 Northbound: Take exit 106, GA Hwy 316 Eastbound. Go to 2nd exit. This is Sugarloaf Parkway. Turn right. Take this road several miles to the Fairgrounds on the left. The General Admission gate will have a double turn lane to the left, and the Exhibitor/Vendor/Tailgate entrance is next, with a single turn lane.

From I - 85 Southbound:  Take GA Hwy 20, and go left, which is south, on GA Hwy 20. Proceed South on GA 20 into Lawrenceville. You will come to a T intersection at the Post Office. Turn right and go 2 blocks. You will see the old courthouse on your left. Turn left, staying on GA Hwy 20 South. Go several blocks and cross GA Hwy 124. When the road narrows from 4 to 2 lanes, watch for Sugarloaf Parkway and turn right. The Fair Grounds are on the right side of the road. This will bring you right into the Hamfest. The Flea Market/Tailgate entrance is the first gate you will come to, and the General Admission gate is the second one.

From Ronald Regan Parkway:   Take Ronald Regan south to Snellville end (ends at 124). Turn left onto 124 and proceed North to Sugarloaf Parkway (diagonally across from McDonalds). Turn right onto Sugarloaf Parkway. The General Admission gate will have a double turn lane to the left, and the Exhibitor/Vendor/Tailgate entrance is next, with a single turn lane.

From GA Hwy 316:   either East or West bound: Turn South onto GA Hwy 20 at the traffic light by the BP station. This is a major intersection with turn lanes on both sides. Proceed South on GA 20 into Lawrenceville. At the Post office turn right and go 2 blocks. You will see the old courthouse on your left. Turn left, staying on GA Hwy 20 South. When the road narrows from 4 to 2 lanes, watch for Sugarloaf Parkway and turn right. This will bring you right into the Hamfest. The Flea Market/Tailgate entrance is the first gate you will come to, and the General Admission gate is the second one.

From GA Hwy 29:   either North or Southbound: Come into Lawrenceville to the old courthouse and turn onto GA Hwy 20 Southbound. GA Hwy 20 will be running beside the courthouse. Proceed South on GA 20 into Lawrenceville. Go several blocks and cross GA Hwy 124. Turn Right onto Sugarloaf Parkway, the Fairgrounds will be on your right. The Flea Market/Tailgate entrance is the first gate you will come to, and the General Admission gate is the second one.

From Interstate 20 either East or West bound:  Take exit 75 (Turner Hill Rd) and turn North on GA Hwy 124 to Snellville (12 miles) and cross Hwy 78 and continue North 4.2 mi. to Sugarloaf Parkway. Turn right onto Sugarloaf Parkway, diagonally across from McDonalds. The General Admission gate will have a double turn lane to the left, and the Exhibitor/Vendor/Tailgate entrance is next, with a single turn lane.

Commercial Vendors

There are over 75 commercial spaces available in the Main Hall. We try to have a good mix of the best radio dealers, computer dealers, peripherals dealers for both radio and computer equipment, and information booths. Don't miss any of them. Setup times are from 12:30pm to 9:00pm on Friday November 6th. And from 6:00am to 8:00am on Saturday, November 7th.

Commercial Tailgating    

These are special reserve spaces between the Ticket Booths and the Main Hall.   Many of our Dealers wish to put up their own Tents or Trailers in these special spots. We will provide Electricity and the Best Boneyard spaces to these Vendors. These spaces will cost $25.00 Per Space for the Weekend. Don't miss any of these vendors. Setup times are from 12:30pm to 9:00pm on Friday November 6th. And from 6:00am to 8:00am on Saturday, November 7th.

Flea Market

INDOOR FLEA MARKET!! You can find just about everything here, as well as lots you've never seen or heard of. Tables are $20 each, ($25 with electric hookup), and include admission. WE ARE LIMITED TO 100 TABLES IN THIS BUILDING - REGISTER EARLY! Setup times are from 12:30pm to 9:00pm on Friday November 6th. And from 6:00am to 8:00am on Saturday, November 7th.

Boneyard - Tailgating

If you didn't find what you're looking for in the Exhibit hall or in the Flea Market, then here's the place to look. Unbelievable bargains on perfectly good equipment and perfectly good junk. Maybe even not so good junk! If you have a couple of things to unload yourself, park and display here for $8 for both days. There is no pre-registration for tailgating - first come, first served for spaces in this area. Setup times are from 12:30pm to 9:00pm on Friday November 6th. And from 6:00am to 8:00am on Saturday, November 7th.

Testing

Testing starts at 9:00 am sharp both days. Plan to arrive by 8:30 for registration. Bring $15.00 in cash for testing fees. Bring two forms of ID (at least one with a photo), as well as both ORIGINAL and COPY of your current license and any additional Certificates of Successful Completion. If this is your first time, and you do not have a Ham License yet, bring your two Forms of ID, and if you are under age 18, bring one of your parents. Good Luck on your test and welcome to Ham Radio.

Contests

Most of our contests this year are oriented to our youth. The contest committee is working on a selection of great activities to entertain, educate and excite our youth about our hobby. All youth age 16 and under are admitted free with an Adult. Scoutmasters and their troops are always welcomed..

Prizes

In addition to the contest prizes, there are lots of GREAT Major prizes and Hourly Prizes. Never won anything before? Your chances are good here! We have over $3500 in prizes! The Grand Prize is a full featured HF mobile rig. Other Major prizes include single and dual band mobile and HT transceivers, tuners, amps,and Computers. There will also be dozens of hourly prizes, so come early, come both days, and spend a while with us.

Hotels

We are negotiating special rates with local hotels for Hamfest attendees. Check back later for updates.

Camping

Camping is available right on the Fairground site for self contained campers. Those desiring hookups can camp in the main area for $15 per night. Parking only inside the fenced area, no hookups of any kind, is only $5 per night, and gets you access to restrooms, as well as having onsite security present.
